Celebrating the Shakti, meaning Strength or Power, ‘Nava’ means ‘Nine’ and ‘Ratri’ means nights in Sanskrit. The nine forms of Shakti/Devi are worshipped with Dandiya Raas a traditional folk dance of Vrindavan.
Dandiyas (the colourful wooden sticks), the costume (chaniya choli) and the dance (Garba) the Navrathri combination is incomplete without them.
The learners and facilitators of DRSIS explored the dance form of dandiya/Garba and energetically participated by wearing colourful traditional clothing and using colourful Dandiya sticks.
